Neighborhood Meetings
Every response to the question of whether to put off another meeting till next year was in the affirmative.  So there was no meeting tonight and will not be in December, though please feel free to email and keep in touch with any comments or concerns.
Lights Out
Not all the streetlights in our neighborhood are working. Please note what ones are having problems and send me their addresses and a description of what is wrong (completely out, sputtering/flickering, etc) and I will make up a list to report to the city.
Lights On
On December 3rd there will be a Santa Run 5K from 4:30-5:30, finishing downtown, a Parade of Lights from 5:30-6:30 pm, and a Lights-On Ceremony from 6:30-7:00 pm.  The Utah Regional Ballet will be performing the Nutcracker from December 10-20 at 2 and 7:30 pm.  Check out the Covey Center’s website here for a complete listing of those and other performances at http://www.coveycenter.org/.
Deck the Halls Downgrade
Just found out the city does not plan on lighting the trees downtown for the holidays this year.  If you have an opinion on this, you can send comments to me at hillamdr@hotmail.com and I’ll forward them on.
Choir Performances
Timpview’s Choral Christmas Concert will be on Thursday, December 8th, while Centennial Middle School’s Christmas Concert will be on December 9th.  Both are free to the public. With the Tabernacle gone, there will be a Messiah Sing-along at the Provo Community United Church of Christ on 175 North University on Monday, December 5th at 7 pm with singers from UVU. That location will also hold a Gallery Stroll with hundreds of nativity scenes on display December 2 from 6-9 pm, as well as a variety of Advent services.
Officer Retirement
Today was a retirement party for Sergeant Richard Dewey, and next Tuesday, November 22nd, there will be a reception for Captain David Bolda for his 35 years of dedicated service. The reception will be held from 12-2 at the Covey Center, 425 W. Center Street.
Elections
Gary Garrett was elected to be the new city-wide city council member, and was appointed to fill the current vacancy in the council until his elected term begins.

Municipal Council Actions
Most of the items for last Tuesday’s Work and Study Sessions were forwarded to the December 6th Council Meeting.  In the main meeting, Gary Garrett was sworn in;  $50,000 was appropriated in the Library fund for operational expenses in the fiscal year ending June 30, 2012; $2,144,000 was transferred from the Energy Fund to the Debt Service Fund for telecom debt service payments; approximately .39 acres located at 55 South Freedom was added to the Surplus Property list; an amendment to codify a process for determining mayoral compensation was continued to December 6; next year’s meeting schedule was approved; and the election results were accepted and certified.

Municipal Council Agenda (partial)
#2 on the agenda is the historic home with the gingerbread trim, beautiful but unfortunately not in great repair, behind where the old Catholic church was torn down.  Note the different location for this meeting.
