Municipal Council Meeting
Last night’s work session in the discussed a proposed write-off of $5,357,316 of iProvo debt related to an inter-fund loan between the Energy Fund and Telecom Debt Service Fund, and a proposal to create five multi-family residential zones. No actual decisions can be made during a work session; both items have been forwarded to the January 17th Council Meeting at 7 pm. Because of the remodel, this meeting will be held at the Provo School District’s Professional Development Center at 280 W 940 N (FYI this is where School Board Meetings are generally held on the second Tuesday of each month at 7 pm).
More information on the zones can be found in staff reports and report of action information attached to the October 26 Planning Commision Agenda, Item 2, available here. Some changes regarding bike parking standards within the zones were requested.
Also forwarded to the January 17th meeting were items regarding the appointment of Bonnie Morrow to the Planning Commission, proposed ordinance amendments affecting Mayorial compensation as well as amendents on prior legislation and citations in the City Code, and revising, codifying, and compiling the general ordinances of Provo City. The council also adopted a report on the Moderate Income Housing Plan as their findings, and decided to discuss sales tax revenue and the RAP tax option at a future retreat.

Provo River Delta Restoration Project
Thursday, January 12th, from 7 to 9 pm, the Utah Lake State Park will be holding a “Stakeholder Recreation Workshop” for all concerned citizens. It will identify impacts from four action alternatives to maximize benefits of increased water flows in the Provo River in order to improve the habitat in the lower river and make more efficient use of the water. Each of the action alternatives would involve realigning the Provo River north of its present location approximately 1.5 miles upstream of its confluence with Utah Lake. The project team is looking for input to help identify potential uses of the existing river channel and associated recreation opportunities on adjacent lands should one of the four alternatives be implemented. The workshop will be held in the Utah Lake State Park Visitor Center at 4400 West Center Street. For more information you can contact Reed Harris at 801 538-7420.
